Iraqi death count
Iraqi police found 26 bodies Tuesday in different neighborhoods of Baghdad, many of which showed signs of torture, and had their hands tied. Ten people were killed Monday and 40 wounded when a suicide bomber detonated a car bomb near an interior ministry checkpoint in central Baghdad. Eight US soldiers were killed by insurgents. 81 people died in Diwaniyah in Monday’s clashes between security forces and militiamen, and on Tuesday, a fire at a fuel pipeline outside the town killed 74.
