London, Paris, San Francisco and New York all held events ahead of key meetings of world leaders at the United Nations next week.
On the Global Day for Darfur, British Prime Minister Gordon Brown called the conflict “one of the great tragedies of our time”.
Some 200,000 people have died and 2m displaced in Darfur since 2003.
